Uploads

Yeah, it was Easter. I took 12.5 million pictures and I dislike nearly every one of them. Why can't I get the exposure and/or color correct??? It drives me nuts. It will probably take a few days/weeks for the pictures to grow on me before I can decide I like any of them. I did come across this one. I guess Baby Kat was tired of me taking pictures, too.

Ok, so for uploads, I'll start with Sweetwater. Here's my favorite from last month's:

You can see the rest of them here. Mine start with this layout, "Summer Glow" and end with "First".
At Peek, the theme was "Signs of Spring".
My favorite from the group:
Well, forget it. It seems that Blogger is not letting me upload anymore pictures. :P

Egg Day

Today we attended the annual community center's Easter egg hunt. We've gone every year. I took a few pictures of the kids. Of course, most of them were of Kat because Trent refuses to look at the camera without making some sort of face.

Both kids had carrots in their mouths. I perhaps should have waited until they had finished chewing and swallowing before taking their pics. Ahhh, live and learn, huh?

So here's the conversation with my husband regarding the above picture.

"Do you like it? This is one of my favorites."

"Where's our son's face?"

"It's a picture of Baby Kat."

"Yeah, well, where's his face?"

"I did it that way on purpose."

"Whatever."

Ok, thanks. I like it. Whatever back at ya.

They hid the eggs on the sand at the playground. Not so fun for the little kids with sandals on (like mine).

Afterwards we had cake, cookies and punch. It's the only time of the year where I get to eat cake before 11:00 AM, in public anyway.

Today is also upload day at several places. I'll do that tomorrow.

Bye for now.

Spring Fling

tWell, it's that time of year again. The UofA Spring Fling is going on and the kids love it. A couple pics...

Trent loves the face painting. Last year he wanted a Spider painted on his face, this year he decided to go with the Rocket Ship. I think it's a good look for him.

Baby Kat was into it this year, too. Last year she was a little young, but today she was right up there, picking out exactly what she wanted: a SHARK.

Both the kids love the Applebee's commercial with the shark in it. I think it's Applebee's, not sure now that I think about it. Anyway, wherever we are, both kids shriek, "LOOK MOMMY!! LOOK DADDY!!! SHARK!! SHARK!!" The shark has become Baby Kat's favorite new animal.
Of course, the girl painting the shark on BK's face may have thought it was a little odd for the 2 year old little girl to pick a shark over a butterfly because she added some glitter to her freshly painted masterpiece.
And why oh why is my right margin all the way at the bottom of the page? It irritates me to no end. It's like the itch I can't scratch.

Neighbor

Ummm, excuse me...but at what point did wearing flip flops, a bikini top and your ex-boyfriends boxer shorts become the hottest fashion item? If you're going to wear that, please take it inside...along with your non-stop barking dog and screaming kids.

Thank you.

I feel much better now.

Spring has Sprung

This is my layout I submitted to the BasicGrey spring contest. Didn't win. Oh well. Move on. Big deal.

A 2 year old's memory

aWe've been noticing lately that Katrina seems to know where things are.

I don't know how many times (per day) we lose the remote control for the tv or the overhead fan, but it's a lot...a whole lot.

On one of these days, Erik asked me, "Do you know where the ceiling fan remote is?"

"Well, I thought it was on the night stand."

Both of us looked on, in, underneath, and behind the nightstand. We searched high and low in the bedroom for the remote. Baby Kat heard what we were looking for and squealed, "I know where 'mote is!" and she went running off into the other room. Erik and I looked at each other. I kept looking in the bedroom, certain it was in here while Erik followed Katrina. Within 10 seconds he came back into the room.

"Heather", was all he could say.

I stopped what I was doing and looked up at him from the floor. I had been looking under the bed. I had to brush away my hair from the front of my face. His mouth was hanging open from shock, while in his right hand he held the remote. Baby Kat was pleased as punch with herself "I found 'mote!" she exclaimed as she danced around. When I looked at her to say, "Good Girl", I noticed my mouth was standing open as well so no words were coming out. I had to close my mouth before I could say anything.

So, that was our first encounter with Baby Kat and her incredible memory.

Since then, she's found the TV remote twice and the dog brush. Before the dog brush, we thought maybe she was hiding the remote from us and then finding it for us when we couldn't find it.

Yesterday I decided to give the dogs a bath. We only had enough shampoo for one, so Gigi was the lucky dog. She HATES the hairdryer and will do anything she can to avoid it. I decided to put her outside, where there was no dirt to roll in, until she dried off. A little later on, I decided I'd give her a brush while she was drying. I went to the backyard to retrieve the brush. That was the last place I had seen it. Of course, it wasn't there.

Seeing how we've had such luck with Katrina and the remotes, I thought I'd give her a little test. You know, just for fun.

"Baby Kat, do you know where the doggie brush is?"

"Yes Mommy."

She takes me out the front door and goes to the garage door. She tells me to lift it up. She quickly enters like she knows exactly where she's going. We get to the back of the garage and she stops a minute. One hand goes on her hip, one hand goes up to her face with one finger sticking out, tapping her tightly pursed lips. She's thinking. The little wheels are moving.

She says, "hmmmmmmmmm", while still looking around.

Suddenly she drops her arms, bends over and in between two boxes and on the floor, she pulls out the dog brush.

"Here you go mommy. I found it."

My mouth was stuck open again and I stumbled a little bit at first when I said, "That's so great Baby Kat!! Thank you so much!"

She kinda jumped up in glee.

How many times has this child been in that garage???? Not many. Not many at all. How on earth does she remember things like this?

I'm going to use her from now on when I lose my keys. It's kind a weird and cool all at the same time.

Peek Upload Day

It's the 31st and that means new layouts uploaded at Peek. The theme this time around is "Tools". Scrapbooking tools that is...MM Tag Maker, BG Notch Tool, etc.

I used the MM Edge scraper on the mat for this layout. Loved using old BG, too.

BG Notch and Die tool.

What does your heart say?

Apparently, mine and Daddy's say "boom boom, boom boom, boom boom, I love you, boom boom, boom boom". While Trenton's says, "boom boom, boom boom, boom boom, poopey, boom boom, boom boom."

See, he's going through this poopey stage. Every thing is poopey. He's five. He's a boy. What else can I say?

Finally, some pics

Here are the pictures I was trying to post the other day.

Baby Kat dressed herself that day. She picked out the flower pants and then pulled out the "Wiggle Wiggle" shirt. Then, she even put them on all by herself!!

"I did it!", she squealed in sheer delight. Here's a picture of her doing her "Super Special Tricky I Did It" dance moves, complete with her tongue sticking out.

I like this picture of Trent on the playground equipment. It's a space shuttle, if you don't recognize it. I thought it would make a great new banner for my blog, but I still really like the one of Trent waiting for the golf ball to come out of the pipe. That's what he's doing in the picture if you ever wondered.

And finally, here's Baby Kat. There's ice cream all over her face and a little booger in her nose, but I don't care. I still like the picture.

M&M Cheeseburgers and other stuff

I've been neglecting my blog AGAIN. It's kinda easy to do. I did try updating a couple of days ago with some pictures I took, but it seems this place was having issues or something.

Dinner at my house is always a battle unless we're having chicken nuggets or pb&j. Tonight we had vegi-burgers. At first, the kids were all excited that we were having "McDonalds, but the home version", but soon their excitement faded away to whines and cries. We threatened that they weren't getting dessert, but it didn't seem to matter. For some reason, a thought came into my head, "I'll put M&M's on their cheeseburgers!"

It worked. The kids ate bite after bite of their cheeseburgers with an M&M on each huge bite. I'd kinda put the M&M off the edge of their burger so they'd have to take a decent size bite to get it.

Of course, I realize I'll have to come up with something different tomorrow. Uh oh.

Darn it, I still can't get pictures on. I'll try tomorrow.

Lots of NEW STUFF

Oh, where do I start??

First DML has a brand new site! It's so purdy...go check it out. Here's a couple of my layouts from there:

You can check out the others here.

It was also upload day at Peek.

Here's my additions:

How did so many of these end up being on Ms. Katrina? I don't know exactly. Maybe it's because Mr. Trent refuses to pose for me 98% of the time.

ALL the 3 Scrappy Boys layouts are of Katrina. I picked the girly kit.

Thanks for peeking. :)

The Sponge Bob Position

Well, the kids have been driving me absolutely nuts all day today. They haven't stopped fighting, crying, arguing, whining, etc. Every time Trent has something, Katrina is all of a sudden interested in it and has to have it. Same thing with Katrina. Every time she has something, Trent is suddenly interested.

My last resort was to threaten to call Grandma. Grandma suggested that I teach the kids the Yoga Sponge Position. We decided to get the kids interested we would call it the Sponge Bob Position.

When I said to the kids, "Let's do the Sponge Bob Position", oh they were all over that.

So, imagine the three of us laying on the floor. I'm talking and trying to get them to relax and all of a sudden, in a very quiet room, somebody farts. Then there's giggles and Baby Kat says, "I toot." I tried to ignore it, but that did no good. She sits up to see Trent giggling and decides that this is a prime nursing opportunity. There was no more relaxing under the weight of the water after that.

Our Sponge Bob Position lasted about 15 seconds, but it did seem to work. They are now sitting on the couch, watching Simpsons and I've been able to type this without any interruption.

Oh, and Erik is coming home with a bottle of wine for me!

New Layouts at Peek

sToday is upload day at Peek. The end of the month sure came up fast! I forgot there were only 28 days, not 30 or 31 this month. Ooops.

We are reviving the old. It's funny to think that anything in this industry that's around three months old is considered "old".

Here's what I came up with:

Ahhh, good old Scrapworks Ethan Kate Collection. All of us at Peek wondered who Ethan Kate was. All of us pictured the same thing, a tall, dark and handsome man. He wore a suit and was very articulate. Pat asked Scrapworks who he was. I wish they would have just humored us because they said it was no one. They just made it up. It was a small let down. ;)

Chatterbox Powder Room Collection. How old is this stuff? This was the first time I had broke into it! The flower is made with Karen Foster Loopy Brads and ribbon. I thought it was a pretty cool idea and sent it to Karen Foster. I guess they didn't because they haven't written me back. :(

Reminisce At The Park Collection. My mom bought this for me in Illinois while on vacation last year. I think this is my favorite of the three uploads. The title was cut out from a piece of the patterned paper and then I stamped brackets around it to make it stand out. The whole thing is on a Bazzill Really Big Chippie, too.

Check out the others here

This isn't old. This is brand spanking new stuff. New American Crafts and new Bazzill deco edge papers. This is Trent's "big" smile. He has a big one and a little one. The little one looks more like a kiss.

Sweetwater

Can I just tell you how excited I am??? I'm sure there are so many of you that know how much I adore Sweetwater. Well, I've been asked to be on their Design Team.

What's so weird about it, is that I was just thinking of them today. I did some Guest Design work for them last year about this time. I was just driving around thinking maybe I should write them a note to see if they'd be interested in having me again. What a shock to see when I got home that they had written ME!

Rodeo Days and Baggies

This week we celebrate Rodeo. **yawn** At Trent's school, they're having Rodeo Days on Thursday and Friday. I really want him to participate, so we spent all yesterday morning looking for boots or a hat. There are no little boy cowboy boots in Tucson, well, at least ones that fit my budget of $20.00. I was just about to give up when I found a place in the mall that sold cowboy hats. He picked out a red one. Doesn't he look cute? I love how he tucks the strings behind his ears.

The Clifford that's pictured in the Valentine Day's photo was destroyed by Zoe. I felt so bad for the little guy. He loves Clifford and sleeps with him every night. While looking for Rodeo apparel at Goodwill (yeah, I was desperate) we found the new Clifford. He was thrilled! I think he picked out a red hat because it's the same color as Clifford.

It was no problem finding Baby Kat cowgirl boots. They're from Target. She loves her boots and won't take them off. She also doesn't like her pants. Hmmm... I guess it's easier to dig in the dirt without pants.

With Katrina now two, I had forgotten how everything has to be in a baggie. Trent has moved out of the baggie phase and it's been a couple years. Katrina has had some odd requests for items in a baggie: shredded cheese, ketchup and even jelly. It's funny how things are so much better when they come out of a baggie.

Uploads

Wednesday was upload day at both A Peek Into Yesterday and Down Memory Lane Co.. I'm just running a little behind. The first one is for Peek. That's Ms. Ashley 16 years ago! You can check out the others here. I have 1 more, but it didn't work out the way I wanted it to so I'm not posting it here.

The assignment was to use Sticky Back papers. Ashley's picture is printed on white cotton sticky back paper.

I had 8 different pieces at DML. I'll only list a few. Go visit the gallery to view mine and all the others. Please!!
This month's theme was Doodling. I was a little nervous about it, but had fun once I started. The design behind this layout was inspired by an ad in Oprah magazine. Remember, I've mentioned Oprah mag before? Go check it out!

That's a little BasicGrey behind the vellum. I love mixing up BG with other lines. I like this LO. I just stumbled along the butterfly while digging in my Scraprack. Trent said he thought it looked, "cool". This layout seemed to take forever. I mixed pictures and embellies around and around and around. :P

I made my own transparency for this. It's lyrics from The Postal Service. I kinda got stuck on this one and had to ask Linda for her help. Thanks! I keep thinking I should re-print that picture to get more of BK's eye. Does it bug you, too?

Happy Valentine's Day

Pictures from this morning. Trent has his first Valentine's party at school today. We spent (what seemed like) all day yesterday signing Valentines. He had 24 to do and by the time we were about 7 in, he was getting frustrated. We had to take little breaks in between sets. Last night he stamped his teacher a card and we bought her a heart shaped box of Hershey's hugs. He couldn't wait to give her his card and the chocolate. He was so excited.

He loves to dress up in nice clothes, too. He wanted to wear the new outfit he got for his birthday. Isn't he just a handsome little dude?

Oh, and of course, Baby Kat had her special heart skirt on. You could tell she felt pretty.

Little Poser

I couldn't believe it when Baby Kat posed for me so I could take her pictures. I was trying out my new diffuser for the flash when I took these:

Here she is giving kisses to the camera. Don't you just love her one curl. LOL! She has a curl only on one side of her head.

Ashley, I and the kids went to the gem show over the weekend. We were there on Wednesday, too, but ran out of time and money quite quickly. I thought about bringing my camera to take pictures and then chickened out. Too many oddballs down there. I didn't want to have to watch the kids and worry about my camera.

I just love the strings of polished stones and beads of all colors. Each of the kids picked out a strand and we'll make necklaces out of them. Of course, Trent wanted pink. Goofy kid.

I didn't see any dinosaur skeletons this time. I didn't see the fossilized dinosaur poop, either. What is that stuff called? I can't remember. I was going to get some and send it to all my online friend's kids.

3 Scrappy Boys upload

February's kit was mostly products from We R Memory Keepers. This company is quickly becoming one of my favorites!

I love this picture of Baby Kat. I was trying to take Christmas photos and there was a gigantic ad with dogs on it. She couldn't stay away from it.
This is just a very simple two page spread for our vacation album I've been working on since last June. **sigh** I used the BG tool for the corners of the main photo.
I really like this layout. Unfortunately, it got the absolute worst response at 2Peas I've ever had.
and this is Gigi. She's turned into such a tub-o-lard since we first got her. Look how skinny she looks sitting on the couch.

That's it for me today.

Trent is sick. I've been cleaning vomit off the carpet this am. It's time for our naps. Later for now.

Some pics from this am

We were the first one's at the playground today. Baby Kat ran ahead of me and went straight to the swings. I liked the way her little feet made footprints in the sand.

Trent's favorite is the very tall slide. It makes me nervous because it's so high. It makes me even more nervous that Baby Kat climbs up that ladder with no problem. :?

Upload Day

Hello! It's upload day at A Peek Into Yesterday. The theme today was red, white & pink or just Valentine's Day.

Here's what I came up with:

Rusty Pickle. This is my sister's dog. Her name is Wrigley, but we call her "Wrigey-Pooh". She and Baby Kat love each other. Awwww....

Marah Johnson. Love this line. I sent it to CK. They never call me though. :P

A little Bo-Bunny. Obviously, I've been watching my Disney movies. ;) (Little Mermaid for those of you not up on Disney)
and of course, if I'm going to have a Queen of Hearts, I must have a King of Hearts. The inspiration for this layout came from the back of a movie we watched. I think it was called, "You, Me and Everyone Else we Know", or something like that. I've been getting so many pieces of inspiration from movie covers. You never know where it will hit ya.

Too much talk radio?

I despise guns.

My children are not allowed to play with toys guns. No way!

Today, Trenton had taken his Mega-blocks and was pretending to shoot with them like they were guns. I asked him to knock it off. He knows he's not supposed to do that. In fact, the blocks were still in the same shapes they were last week when he was making robots with them. As I'm sitting here writing this, I'm still trying to figure out where he saw guns on TV.

Before I knew it, he was asking Baby Kat which gun she wanted. There were four robots, I mean guns, lined up.

I said, "NO way! You guys are not playing with guns or anything that resembles a gun. Why don't you play robots instead."

"Why?" he asked.

"Guns are bad. They can hurt you and other people. I don't want you to pretend like you're hurting people."

A couple minutes later he was pretending to shoot fire in my face with his gun.

I went to grab it out of his hand when he pulled it out of my reach.

"Mommy!" he said very sternly. He had a concerned look on his face. "Do you know what kind of gun this is?"

Through my gritted teeth, I said, "What kind of gun is it, Trent?" I was thinking he better say it shot out kisses or flowers or even butterflies.

"It's a United Tates Uhmerica Gun. It's a good gun, Mommy. It's a good gun."

I looked at him in surprise. What did he just say? I ran it through my head again and shook it off.

"There are no good guns Trent." I ripped it out of his hands and put it and the other three guns up on a high shelf. He wasn't going to get to play with them until tomorrow.

I guess we've been listening to way too much political talk radio in the car. "United Tates Uhmerica"? That has to be where it was from. I still don't know where the gun part came from.
