2 cars

We are finally a 2 car family again. We've been making due with one car for the last 4 years. At times it has been very difficult.

No more buses, no more coordinating who gets the car when for doctor appointments, etc.

It's so freeing!!

The 26/38 MPG is what really sold me. Isn't she pretty??

No cute red wagons this year

We didn't make it to the pumpkin patch this year. So, we hit the grocery store at 7:00 AM when we woke up and realized, "OMGosh, it's the 30th and we haven't carved pumpkins yet!!"

It worked out ok. We didn't have to drive an hour and a half and walk around in dust and dirt.
The pumpkins were also about a third of the price of the pumpkins at the patch. That was nice.
All the pumpkins were perfect. We didn't pick up what we thought would be a perfect pumpkin only to be disappointed when we turned it over and discover it was rotted.

We didn't get apple pie afterwards, BUT we got donuts instead. I think the kids like the donuts better anyway.

P.S. I think I like the yellow-ish glow the pictures have from the lights in the store. It gives it that "we forgot to hit the patch this year but we did ok" look.

Sookie story

This morning, Sookie thought it would be really fun to wake us up by attacking our sleeping eyelids. My eyes itched, my nose started to run and my throat started to hurt.

I refused to take a Benadryl. I had a little bit of energy and I knew taking one would have me asleep in 30 minutes. I toughed it out but I got even with her.

She had her first vet appointment today. Oh, she was not pleased with me. She had a thermometer up her butt, a few shots, a blood test and her nails trimmed. She's spent the remainder of the day ignoring me. You can almost see her rolling her eyes at me when I stopped to take her picture.

Do you see that look on her face? What do you think she's going to think when I take her to get spayed next month.

I'll just keep looking at this cute baby picture of her. This was taken 8/10 at Ashley's apartment...the first day she brought her home.

Me & Martha

Here's a spoooooky layout I made of the kids using one of the Martha Stewart stacks. I buy them each year but this is the first time I've actually used it.

The pictures were altered in Picnik. Sorry for the bad scan. The MM flower skeleton thing makes it really bumpy.

Giddyup

Theresa from BBTB2 asked us to use the barn cut from the Old West cart. How convenient that Katrina had been riding Rainbow on Friday. ;)

The patterned paper is older Crate. Thanks for looking and thanks for your comments. :D

Go check out Bitten By the Bug 2 to see what the other gals have done.

Vintage Halloween card

This is another cute free image from Peggy Loves Vintage.

I used my first Nestie for the label. It's not embossed perfectly but I don't have one of those embossing mats. The leaves are Bo Bunny.

This beautiful hawk was just sitting on the kid's playset yesterday. Isn't he pretty!! Once the dogs discovered him, he flew away. Look at those claws!!

He has a little tag on his foot.

My Haunted House

Susan at BBTB2 asked us to use the Haunted House from the Happy Hauntings cart. OH BOY! It was tough but it was worth it. The kids and I had so much fun putting it together. Kat now wants to take it to school for show and tell.

Mine is certainly not the coolest on the block. Please check out the other creations at BBTB2.

It was cut at 7 inches. At the end, I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist, which warped it a little bit. I guess you could say that my haunted house is the one that has been foreclosed on and is now lowering the value of the others on the block. ;)

The layout in the background will be posted in the next couple of days. I altered the photos in Picnik. Gosh, I love that site!!

The costumes are in!

We had a scare with Trent's. We didn't think it would get here on time because it was caught up in that train derailment in Phoenix. When I called UPS, they said it could take a week at least to get it all straightened out.

So, I called Buycostumes.com and they immediately overnighted a replacement costume. I think that is AWESOME customer service!! We ended up with two costumes because UPS delayed delivery only by a day. I couldn't believe it!! Two great customer service stories.

We've had Kat's costume for awhile. She has wanted to be this half devil-half angel for a long time. She can't wear the costume in the house because Sookie gets all crazy for the feathers on the bottom of the angel side. Katrina wanted to add the "Devil Stick" (she can't seem to remember the word "pitchfork"). I guess that means she's more devil than angel, which in my opinion is pretty accurate.

I've already heard several times in the last week how much she "loves her devil stick". I have also had to take it away from her many times as she loves to poke her brother with it.

Kat's drawing

Here is a little picture that Kat drew of Sookie. I love the dirty ears. Below Sookie is my arm...covered in tiny kitten bite marks.

Her attention to detail is amazing. ;)

Good morning everyone!! This week at Bitten By the Bug 2, I asked the designers to use the sewing machine from the Heritage cart. I love that cart...there are so many cool images on there.

Vintage Christmas Deer

Isn't this little guy sweet? It's an image from Peggy Loves Vintage's latest release...Vintage Christmas CD Volume 13.

I printed him twice, cut out the deer and put him back on with 3-d glue dots. I added lots of glitter, bling and some glaze pens.

I thought her unicorn was going to be blue

so I gave her the light blue marker. I wanted to teach the kids about shading and was explaining that we would put the light blue on top and then darker on the bottom and blend the two together. Somewhere along the way, Kat misunderstood me because that unicorn turned brown.

I tried again on the mane but I guess it's hard to explain blending to a little kid.

Here's mine. I should have a chosen a different color than blue as I only had two shades. Now I have to buy more blue. ;)

Here's Trent's. He just didn't care at all about shading and only wanted to color it in.

Aren't these stamps cute? They're new Bam Pop!

Making the Grade

A layout I made with paper I found at Michael's and some embellishments from Crate and Fancy Pants. Postage stamps are from Manto Fev.

A couple of you have asked about the drips on my candle card. I used Glossy Accents from Ranger. The candle was cut on the Cricut with all those drips. All I did was cover the cut with the Glossy Accents. Let it dry overnight.

Thanks again for all your kind comments!
